Overview – Tyme Wear™

Overview

Whether you just received your smart shirt or want a refresher on the system, this overview will cover the Tyme Wear system at a glance. This article will help give you context as you go through the rest of the startup guide and other articles in our support documentation.

We will cover the:

Smart Shirt

Mobile App

Web App

Apple Watch App

Garmin IQ App

Smart Shirt

The smart shirt has 2 main components, the shirt itself with an integrated breathing sensor and the pod which collects and streams the data to the mobile app. The Shirt measures breathing through the expansion and contraction of the chest cavity and streams it to the mobile app through a Bluetooth connection with the pod. The shirt can be machine washed and is rated for over 300 cycles, just remember to remove the pod before washing.

As mentioned above, the pod streams breathing data to the mobile app along with movement data measured from within the pod itself. It can also store up to 16 hours of data to be synced with the mobile app post workout meaning the user doesn’t need to have the phone with them during workouts. The pod is shirt agnostic so the user can have multiple shirts to limit wash cycles while only needing one pod.

Mobile App

The Tyme Wear mobile app can be downloaded on the App Store for iOS users and the Play Store for Android users. Once downloaded it’s used to collect and view data with features such as:

  • Collecting Threshold Test and Workout data.
  • Using the most recent threshold results to guide training with live breathing metrics.
  • Validating exercise intentions such as time spent in each zone with workout analysis.

Web Dashboard

The Tyme Wear web dashboard is the hub for all of our users’ data. They can see all of their activities and tests along with their profile where they can manage platform integrations such as with Garmin Connect. When looking at workout data on the dashboard a user can see all of the available data from that workout, not just the condensed analysis that is available in the mobile app. The web dashboard also offers the ability to import workout data from other sources and export all the available data as a CSV or FIT file.

Apple Watch App

The Tyme Wear app is also available on Apple watches. It can be downloaded through the Apple Watch app on iPhones and syncs up HR and GPS data with the breathing data from the shirt. Workouts still need to be started from the phone and the watch still needs to be in range of the phone throughout the workout.

Garmin IQ App

A Tyme Wear - Garmin IQ app is available for head units and newer models of Garmin’s exercise watches. The app connects directly to the pod and displays the live breathing data during a workout. This is a great way of viewing the Tyme Wear data simultaneously with Garmin’s workout data.
