Other Devices

The Tymewear App can connect to Bluetooth devices to record and display your data such as:

  • Indoor bike trainers such as Garmin Tacx, Wahoo Kickr, Elite and Saris
  • Power meters including SRM, SRAM, Shimano, Favero, Rotor, Garmin, Quarq, 4iiii, Stages and Power2Max
  • Sports sensors such as Stryd*

How to Connect External Sensors

Compatibility
The following Ergs are known to be incompatible as they don't have the capabilities (bluetooth connection and Erg control) or are documented by the brands as unreliable:

Garmin Tacx Flux 2
Wahoo Kickr Rollr
Wahoo Kickr Snap
Wattbike Atom Gen 1
Saris / CycleOps Hammer 1

They may connect and show power, though may not allow Erg power control.

Hammerhead, Wahoo, Suunto and Coros do not yet support / integrate with the Tymewear Breathing Sensor.

Important notes on compatibility
Gym Bikes may not support the same connection standards as smart trainers. Some require additional applications or workarounds.

Ensure your sensors are up-to-date with the latest firmware

Some external sensors like *Stryd or core can prevent the Tymewear sensors from connecting (as they block too many recorded datafield). This can be solved by removing them and by reducing the number of datafields.

The core sensor prevents other Connect IQ sensors from working and they have "Display Option" setting that needs to be set to 32 which reduces they number of recorded fields they block.

The Concept2 BikeErg with PM5 needs to be updated to the latest firmware version.

Garmin watches and bike computers can record and display data from the VitalPro breathing sensor and heart rate sensor with the Connect IQ App and synchronises activities with your Tymewear Account.

Importing activity data from other devices

For other sports hardware we are working with brands for full integration of Tymewear and until then, have solutions that enable you to import training data into Tymewear.

If your sports device does not yet provide compatibility with Tymewear, you can still synchronise your data. Follow these steps to import .fit file activity data. This will then synchronise / merge the data so that all data becomes available in the Tymewear Dashboard and Tymewear App.

Step 1: Use the Tymewear App to record your activity.

Step 2: At the same time,  record your activity your other device.

Step 3: In the Tymewear Dashboard - locate the activity and then import the .fit file that was recorded on your other device.

• Drag and drop the .fit file into the screen or,
• Under 3rd party activities, press the +. This creates a line called "Unnamed generic activity" and there is an upload option where you can select and upload.

After uploading a file, it can take a few hours for the new data to process and merge.

Tip: Don’t forget, inside the Tymewear App you can connect external Bluetooth devices and capture the data in your activity. Keep in mind, external sensors need to stay in range of the smartphone during the activity.

Guides for exporting .fit files from other platforms

For external platforms, here are quick links for their FAQs or guides for exporting activity data as .fit files. Then follow the import steps above to connect this with your Tymewear activity.

Export .fit files for: Garmin Connect | Strava | Zwift | TrainerRoad | TrainingPeaks | Coros | Suunto | StrydPolar | Wahoo

Peloton: Unfortunately Peloton does not allow the direct export of activity data. There are some third-party apps that can export data, in this case you need a .fit file format and can follow the steps above. As an alternative, devices such as the DFC Data Broadcaster allow you to stream the Peloton power data and in the Tymewear App you can then connect as an external sensor to receive the data.

.fit file Missing Power & 50% Cadence Solution

When exporting .fit files from the Tymewear Dashboard - the Power metrics are not recorded in the default 'Power' column and the Cadence values are reporting at 50% of the correct value.

A permanent fix is being developed. For an immediate solution, a Tymewear customer has create a solution to update the exported .fit files and it is available on Github: FITfixer
