Triathlete Best Practices
For triathletes, it is recommended to understake a separate Threshold Test for running and for cycling. The results will show natural variations and in the training guidance there is cycling and running specific recommendations.
Cycling Aero Position
Please be aware that the VitalPro breathing sensor strap needs to be setup (tightness) following the guidance inside the Tymewear App.
However, if you setup the strap and then change to an aggressive aero position, this will likely cause a spike in the ventilation metrics but also, depending on the fit of the strap, can impact the data quality.
Although it is normal to see these spikes when changing position, and the VitalPro can re-calibrate for a new position, this is on the basis that the strap still is well fitted. This can still cause a variation in the readings in a new position.
In Context - Being aware of this, please consider your strap fit and test it before starting the test to try and ensure you are getting good readings in your different riding positions.
If you are also riding with classic dropbars as well as on a Time Trial bike, be aware that these are two different styles and you may be interested in doing a separate Threshold Test for each and with reference to the results from both tests, help define how to best approach your training.
In Practice - For the test, try to avoid unnecessary changes in the body position. And for activities, be aware that changes may naturally cause spikes or shifts in the data.
